.Founded in 1995, Sirios Resources develops and explores its own mining exploration projects. Pioneers in the discovery of world-class gold deposits in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region, Quebec, Eastern Canada, over the years, Sirios is focusing on its flagship gold discovery Cheechoo. It project is located nine kilometers east of the Eleonore gold mine of Newmont Goldcorp Inc who is also the biggest shareholder of Sirios, detaining 19% interest of Sirios. The Cheechoo property consists of approximately 145 claims, covering approximately 75 square kilometers.
In 2010, Sirios discovered the property’s first gold showings by prospecting upstream from a large, in-soil gold anomaly.As of November 2019, Sirios completed over 64,000 meters of drilling across the property as well as prospecting, detailed geological mapping and channel sampling. The Cheechoo deposit consists now of an open pitable large tonnage low-grade gold deposit which includes numerous high-grade zones. One of the project’s high-grade gold zone is the Jordi zone which displays continuous mineralization for over 300 meters laterally and 200 meters down dip, the zone remains open at depth. In September 2019, metallurgical testing achieved gold recovery rates of up to 97 percent, including 88 percent by gravity.
Moving forward, Sirios intends to complete before the end of 2019 a resource estimate for the property in addition to the completion of metallurgical testing. In 2019, Sirios increased its camp capacity from 20 to 50 workers and is still upgrading its infrastructure.
Another project of Sirios is the Aquilon project that includes 104 claims, covering approximately 50 km², located ten kilometers south of the LA-1 hydroelectric complex at Eeyou Istchee James Bay. Currently at the drilling stage, the project is accessible at any time of the year. It includes numerous high to very high grade gold showings with results as high as 3 230,9 g/t Au over 0.80 m, including 12,906.5 g/t Au over 0.20 m were obtained. Additional diamond drilling is warranted on this very high-grade gold project.
