Nexus Gold Corp is a Canadian-based gold exploration and development company. We currently control four projects in various stages of development in Burkina Faso, West Africa, a gold-rich country that features dozens of producing gold mines operated by some of the world’s biggest and most successful gold companies.
Burkina Faso is a mining friendly jurisdiction that has a relatively recent history in modern mining. It is one of the reasons we chose to work here. Another significant reason is that it’s a place where a smaller company like Nexus can find and work highly-prospective ground that hasn’t already been picked over and “drilled out” by others.
Another perhaps equally important reason we work in West Africa is we have the requisite experience there. Our management and geological teams bring significant experience and successful track records in Burkina Faso and neighboring countries in all aspects of exploration, including discovery, project development, mine operations, and much more.
In addition, we see the value in expanding our operations to other gold-rich mining jurisdictions, and we are actively adding to our project portfolio to provide risk hedge and jurisdictional upside.
Nexus Gold’s project portfolio:
McKenzie gold project:
The McKenzie gold project is a 1,348.5-hectare property located in the heart of the Red Lake gold camp. The highly prospective geological setting is analogous to several past producers. McKenzie hosts nine documented historical gold occurrences with limited exploration.
.In 2017 a ground reconnaissance program resulted in a prospecting discovery, with high-grade samples returning up to 313 grams-per-tonne ("g/t") gold ("Au"). A new showing on the southwest corner of McKenzie Island, located in the northern portion of the project area, was also discovered during this program and returned multiple high-grade samples ranging from 9.37 g/t Au to 331 g/t Au. This new discovery lies approximately 100 meters west of a historical showing where gold values of up to 212.8 g/t Au have been reported in provincial government files.
Burkina Faso:
The Bouboulou concession is 38-sq km advanced stage exploration project with five distinct drill-tested gold zones contained within three 5km long gold trends. Previous operators include Roxgold, Boliden, and others. To date more than 60 holes have been drilled with several notable intercepts of both length and grade reported.
The 250-sq km Rakounga concession is contiguous to Bouboulou. In 2017 Nexus drill tested three zones located near active orpaillages (artisanal mining areas), confirming the presence of gold mineralization at all three. All 10 holes drilled at the Koaltenga zone intercepted gold.
The Company aims to establish a proximal relationship between the five identified zones at Bouboulou and the three zones located at the western edge of the Rakounga property. The area represented between all eight drill tested zones is approximately 16 kms and if continuity continues to be established, represents a sizeable mineralized footprint.
The 178-sq km Niangouela concession is an earlier stage project that yielded some significant early results. Nexus was the first company to drill Niangouela. After identifying some high-grade samples from artisanal pits, 8 of the first 9 holes drilled intercepted significant gold intercepts. Work is ongoing at Niangouela to establish the size and scope of the mineralized areas.
The 100% Nexus owned Dakouli 2 concession is a 98-sq km land package contiguous to southern border of the Niangouela project. Early reconnaissance work has identified several active artisanal areas over 400m strike, with several high-grade samples having been recovered from multiple zones. There is an abundance of visible gold at Dakouli, with several samples yielding coarse, nuggety samples.
Canada:
The 100% owned New Pilot Project is located in the heart of the Bridge River Mining Camp, a prolific past producing region of British Columbia. New Pilot is proximal to several historic mines, namely Bralorne, Little Gem, and Jewel. Exploration work in the 1990’s results produced significant high-grade sample results from multiple showings.
